Podimo, geboren ca. 2024, ca. 40 cm, im Shelter seit 08/2025

 

Podimo ist ein etwa zwei Jahre alter Rüde, der noch vor einiger Zeit nichts anderes kannte als die Flucht vor Menschen. Als wir ihn aus der Tötung in Alexandria übernahmen, war er völlig verwahrlost und stark verfilzt. Es dauerte lange und war mit viel Drama verbunden, bis wir ihn endlich sichern konnten.

 

Anfangs lebte Podimo bei Julia im Auslauf. Doch dort gab es für ihn zu viele Möglichkeiten, sich zu verstecken und dem Kontakt mit Menschen aus dem Weg zu gehen. Deshalb zog er schließlich in den Quarantänecontainer um – einen kleineren, ruhigeren Bereich, in dem er sich zwangsläufig mehr mit Menschen auseinandersetzen muss. Und genau das tut ihm unglaublich gut.

 

Aus dem panisch flüchtenden Hund ist inzwischen ein vorsichtiger kleiner Kämpfer geworden, der mittlerweile aus der Hand frisst. Besonders bei Wurst oder Nassfutter kann Podimo kaum noch widerstehen. Er lässt sich inzwischen vorsichtig anfassen und beginnt langsam zu verstehen, dass Menschen ihm nichts Böses wollen. Natürlich braucht er weiterhin Zeit – vermutlich sogar noch eine ganze Weile. Aber genau diese kleinen Schritte sind die wichtigsten überhaupt.

 

Podimo ist noch weit entfernt davon, entspannt an Leine und Geschirr zu laufen. Mit Geduld und Ruhe wird das in Zukunft mit Sicherheit möglich sein, doch man muss ehrlich sagen: Podimo ist kein Hund, der einfach „funktioniert“. Er braucht Menschen, die wirklich verstehen, worauf sie sich einlassen. Menschen, die keine Erwartungen an schnelle Fortschritte haben, sondern bereit sind, Vertrauen langsam wachsen zu lassen.

 

Ein ruhiges Zuhause wäre für Podimo ein riesiger Vorteil. Denn auch wenn er im Quarantänecontainer bereits tolle Fortschritte macht, fehlt dort natürlich die Zeit und Ruhe, die ein einzelner Hund in einem richtigen Zuhause bekommen könnte.

 

Für Podimo wünschen wir uns Menschen mit Geduld, Ruhe und ganz viel Herz. Menschen, die ihm zeigen, dass das Leben mehr sein kann als Angst – und die ihm helfen, Schritt für Schritt in ein gutes und sicheres Leben hineinzuwachsen.

  • Befindet sich aktuell in Rumänien und darf ausreisen, wenn er ein Zuhause gefunden hat.
  • Reist gechipt und geimpft (EU Impfpass; Impfungen: Tollwut und Grundimmunisierung).
  • Alle Hunde werden bei ihrer Ankunft im Shelter sowie anschließend mindestens einmal jährlich gegen Darmparasiten und Ektoparasiten behandelt.

  • Die geschilderten Verhaltensbeobachtungen basieren auf dem Alltag im Shelter und können sich in einem häuslichen Umfeld unter veränderten Lebensbedingungen entsprechend anders darstellen.

Podimo, born approx. 2024, ca. 40 cm, in the shelter since 08/2025

 

Podimo is an approximately two-year-old male dog who, until not long ago, knew nothing but running away from people. When we rescued him from the kill shelter in Alexandria, he was completely neglected and severely matted. It took a long time and a lot of effort before we were finally able to safely catch him.

 

At first, Podimo lived in Julia’s enclosure. But there were simply too many places for him to hide and avoid any contact with humans. That is why he was eventually moved to the quarantine container — a smaller and calmer environment where he is, in a way, forced to engage more with people. And this has helped him tremendously.

 

The terrified dog who once fled in panic has slowly turned into a cautious little fighter who now takes food from human hands. Especially when sausage or wet food is involved, Podimo can hardly resist anymore. He now carefully allows gentle touch and is beginning to understand that humans do not want to hurt him. Of course, he still needs time — probably quite a lot of it. But these small steps are the most important ones.

 

Podimo is still far away from being comfortable with a leash or harness. With patience and calm guidance, this will most likely be possible in the future, but it is important to be honest: Podimo is not a dog who will simply “function” immediately. He needs people who truly understand what they are taking on. People who expect no quick progress, but who are willing to let trust grow slowly.

 

A quiet home would be a huge advantage for Podimo. Even though he is already making wonderful progress in the quarantine container, there is naturally not enough time and peace there for one individual dog to fully blossom.

 

For Podimo, we are hoping for people with patience, calmness, and a very big heart. People who will show him that life can be more than fear — and who will help him slowly find his way into a safe and loving life.

  • Will travel microchipped and vaccinated (EU pet passport; vaccinations include rabies and basic immunization).
  • All dogs are treated for intestinal parasites and ectoparasites upon arrival at the shelter and at least once a year thereafter.
